In 1979 Spain internationalised the observatories of the IAC through the Agreements on Co-operation in Astrophysics. More than sixty scientific institutions of nineteen countries have now installed their telescopes and other astronomical instrumentation at the European Northern Observatory (ENO) which includes the Teide (Tenerife) and Roque de los Muchachos (La Palma) Observatories.
