  • IACTEC students
    Since it started in 2017 this technological and business unit of the IAC has hosted over 20 university students for short term stays. Thanks to this training programme the students develop their technological capabilities and improve their aptitutde for working locally in the field of technology. One of the aims of IACTEC, in its role as the IAC’s unit of collaboration between the public and private sectors, is to build up the fabric of local high technogy companies in areas close to the IAC’s specialities.   • 50 years of doctoral theses logo
    The Instituto de Astrofísica de Canarias (IAC) and the University of La Laguna (ULL) are organizing the scientific conference “Impulsing Astrophysics in Spain: 50 years of doctoral theses at the IAC”, which will be held on 17th to 19th July in La Laguna (Tenerife).

  • Artist’s impression of a planetary fragment orbits the star SDSS J122859.93+104032.9
    Researchers from the Instituto de Astrofísica de Canarias (IAC) and the University of La Laguna (ULL) have discovered the remains of a planet inside a disc of debris circling a white dwarf. Thought to be rich in heavy metals iron and nickel which helped it survive destruction of its planetary system. This work, has been published today in Science magazine.
