  • Periastron Observations of TeV Gamma-Ray Emission from a Binary System with a 50-year Period
We report on observations of the pulsar/Be star binary system PSR J2032+4127/MT91 213 in the energy range between 100 {GeV} and 20 {TeV} with the Very Energetic Radiation Imaging Telescope Array and Major Atmospheric Gamma Imaging Cherenkov telescope arrays. The binary orbit has a period of approximately 50 years, with the most recent periastron

  • Oxygen and silicon abundances in Cygnus OB2. Chemical homogeneity in a sample of OB slow rotators
Context. Cygnus OB2 is a rich OB association in the Galaxy located at only ˜1.4 kpc from us which has experienced intense star formation in the last 20-25 Myr. Its stellar population shows a correlation between age and Galactic longitude. Exploring the chemical composition of its stellar content we will be able to check the degree of homogeneity of

  • On the multiplicity of ALMA Compact Array counterparts of far-infrared bright quasars
We present ALMA Atacama Compact Array (ACA) 870 μm continuum maps of 28 infrared-bright SDSS quasars with Herschel/SPIRE detections at redshifts 2-4, the largest such sample ever observed with ALMA. The ACA detections are centred on the SDSS coordinates to within 1 ″ for about 80 per cent of the sample. Larger offsets indicate that the far-infrared

  • Multi-wavelength characterization of the blazar S5 0716+714 during an unprecedented outburst phase
Context. The BL Lac object S5 0716+714, a highly variable blazar, underwent an impressive outburst in January 2015 (Phase A), followed by minor activity in February (Phase B). The MAGIC observations were triggered by the optical flux observed in Phase A, corresponding to the brightest ever reported state of the source in the R-band. Aims. The

  • Measuring masses in low mass X-ray binaries via X-ray spectroscopy: the case of MXB 1659-298
The determination of fundamental parameters in low-mass X-ray binaries (LMXBs) typically relies on measuring the radial velocity curve of the companion star through optical or near-infrared spectroscopy. It was recently suggested that high resolution X-ray spectroscopy might enable a measurement of the radial velocity curve of the compact object by

  • Measurements of Higgs boson properties in the diphoton decay channel in proton-proton collisions at √{s}=13 TeV
Measurements of Higgs boson properties in the H → γγ decay channel are reported. The analysis is based on data collected by the CMS experiment in proton-proton collisions at √{s}=13 TeV during the 2016 LHC running period, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 35.9 fb-1. Allowing the Higgs mass to float, the measurement yields a signal
