  • Interstellar C2 in the Perseus molecular complex: excitation temperature and density of a molecular cloud with anomalous microwave emission
Interstellar absorption lines up to J″= 10 in the (2, 0) band and up to J″= 6 in the (3, 0) band of the C2 A1Πu-X1Σ+g system are detected toward star Cernis 52 (BD +31°640) in the Perseus molecular complex. The star lies in a reddened line of sight where various experiments have detected anomalous microwave emission spatially correlated with dust

  • IGR J17091-3624 undergoes 'heartbeat' oscillations similar to those of GRS 1915+105
We report on the follow up observations after the report of ~10 mHz quasi-periodic oscillations (QPO -- ATel #3225) in the X-ray light curve of the ongoing outburst of the black hole candidate IGR J17091-3624 (ATel #3144, #3159, #3167, #3203) RXTE/PCA observations performed on March 19th and March 22nd, 2011, show a continuous progression of flare

  • How Important is Rotational Fission in the Trans-Neptunian Region?
We introduce the idea that rotational fission is a possible mechanism in the formation of systems of large TNOs: binary systems, complex systems (Haumea), and TNO pairs. We also present N-body simulations of rotational fission.

  • High resolution Halpha spectroscopy and R-band photometry of Swift J1357.2-0933
We report on high resolution Halpha spectroscopy and time-resolved photometry of the optical counterpart to the X-ray transient Swift J1357.2-0933 in outburst (Krimm et al. ATEL #3138). SPECTROSCOPY: Six 30-33 min spectra were obtained on the nights of 2011 Feb 25-27 using the IDS Spectrograph on the 2.5m Isaac Newton Telescope (INT) at the
