  • Spatially resolved mock observations of stellar kinematics: full radiative transfer treatment of simulated galaxies
We present a framework to build realistic mock spectroscopic observations for state-of-the-art hydrodynamical simulations, using high spectral resolution stellar population models and full radiative transfer treatment with SKIRT. As a first application, we generate stellar continuum mock observations for the Auriga cosmological zoom simulations

  • Revisiting constraints on the photon rest mass with cosmological fast radio bursts
Fast radio bursts (FRBs) have been suggested as an excellent celestial laboratory for testing the zero-mass hypothesis of the photon. In this work, we use the dispersion measure (DM)-redshift measurements of 23 localized FRBs to revisit the photon rest mass m γ . As an improvement over previous studies, here we take into account the more realistic

  • OGLE-2019-BLG-0825: Constraints on the Source System and Effect on Binary-lens Parameters Arising from a Five-day Xallarap Effect in a Candidate Planetary Microlensing Event
We present an analysis of microlensing event OGLE-2019-BLG-0825. This event was identified as a planetary candidate by preliminary modeling. We find that significant residuals from the best-fit static binary-lens model exist and a xallarap effect can fit the residuals very well and significantly improves χ 2 values. On the other hand, by including

  • Modeling the Chromosphere and Transition Region of Planet-hosting Star GJ 436
Ahead of upcoming space missions intending to conduct observations of low-mass stars in the ultraviolet (UV) spectral region it becomes imperative to simultaneously conduct atmospheric modeling from the UV to the visible (VIS) and near-infrared (NIR). Investigations on extended spectral regions will help to improve the overall understanding of the

  • Matter ejections behind the highs and lows of the transitional millisecond pulsar PSR J1023+0038
Transitional millisecond pulsars are an emerging class of sources that link low-mass X-ray binaries to millisecond radio pulsars in binary systems. These pulsars alternate between a radio pulsar state and an active low-luminosity X-ray disc state. During the active state, these sources exhibit two distinct emission modes (high and low) that

  • Mapping non-axisymmetric velocity fields of external galaxies
Disc galaxies are typically in a stable configuration where matter moves in almost closed circular orbits. However, non-circular motions caused by distortions, warps, lopsidedness, or satellite interactions are common and leave distinct signatures on galaxy velocity maps. We develop an algorithm that uses an ordinary least squares method for
