  • Dynamics of the Collimated Outflows of the PPN Hen 3-1475
Hen 3-1475 (IRAS 17423-1755) has recently been identified via ground-based and HST optical images as a bipolar proto-planetary nebula displaying a remarkable highly--collimated optical jet and a spectacular S-shaped string of knots along its bipolar axis, associated to extremely high velocities which decrease with the distance to the central star

  • Diffuse gamma-ray line emission from multiple OB Associations in Cygnus
The COMPTEL observations of the diffuse galactic 1.809 MeV emission attributed to the radioactive decay of 26 Al have confirmed the diffuse nature of this interstellar emission line. One of the most significant features of the reconstructed intensity pattern is a flux enhancement in the direction of the Cygnus region. This region is fairly young

  • Detection of an X-Ray Jet in 3C 371 with Chandra
We report the detection at X-rays of the radio/optical jet of 3C 371 from a short (10 ks) Chandra exposure in 2000 March. We also present a new MERLIN observation at 1.4 GHz together with a reanalysis of the archival Hubble Space Telescope Wide Field Planetary Camera 2 F555W image. Despite the limited signal-to-noise ratio of the Chandra data, the

  • Can Jupiters be found by monitoring Galactic bulge microlensing events from northern sites?
In 1998 the EXPORT team monitored microlensing event light curves using a charge-coupled device (CCD) camera on the IACQ4 0.8-m telescope on Tenerife to evaluate the prospect of using northern telescopes to find microlens anomalies that reveal planets orbiting the lens stars. The high airmass and more limited time available for observations of

  • Brightening of WZ Sge
We report on a sudden brightening of the dwarf nova WZ Sge during decline from outburst (cf. IAUC #7669, IAUC #7670). The observations were made with the 0.82-m IAC80 telescope at Teide Observatory (Tenerife, Spain). The object has risen approximately two magnitudes, and CCD photometry gives B=11.33 +/- 0.01 and R=11.09 +/- 0.01 (August 21.875 UT)
