  • Modeling the photometric and dynamical behavior of Super-Schmidt meteors in the Earth's atmosphere
Faint meteors observed with Super-Schmidt cameras are re-examined in order to assess whether their dynamical and photometric behavior can be described by means of the single body theory. Velocities, decelerations and magnitudes are fitted simultaneously to synthetic curves resulting from integration of the appropriate set of differential equations

  • Metals from star-forming dwarfs: retention or ejection?
We show evidences that gas outflows occur in starburst galaxies as superbubbles evolve. We then question whether hot gas will be expelled and enrich the IGM with metals or be retained within the host galaxy. For this purpose we construct three extreme scenarios of the star formation histories for a sample of dwarf galaxies using either their

  • Iron abundance in H II regions
Optical CCD spectra are used to determine the element{Fe} abundances at several positions inside seven bright Galactic H Ii regions. The observed [Fe Iii] line ratios are compared with the predictions of different sets of collision strengths and transition probabilities for this ion to select the atomic data providing the best fit to the

  • Introduction to NMR Quantum Information Processing
After a general introduction to nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR), we give the basics of implementing quantum algorithms. We describe how qubits are realized and controlled with RF pulses, their internal interactions, and gradient fields. A peculiarity of NMR is that the internal interactions (given by the internal Hamiltonian) are always on. We

  • INTEGRAL Field Spectroscopy of IRAS 15206+3342: Gas Inflows and Starbursts in an Advanced Merger
Integral field optical spectroscopy using the INTEGRAL system (complemented with Hubble Space Telescope WFPC2 imaging) is used to characterize the kinematic and ionization properties of the warm ionized gas in the ultraluminous infrared galaxy IRAS 15206+3342. These data present kinematic and morphological evidence for a tidal tail connecting the
