  • Surface brightness fluctuation spectra to constrain stellar population properties
We present a new set of surface brightness fluctuation (SBF) spectra computed with the E-MILES stellar population synthesis models. The model SBF spectra cover the range λλ1680-50 000 at moderately high resolution, all based on extensive empirical stellar libraries. The models span the metallicity range -2.3≤ [M/H] ≤ +0.26 for a suite of intial

  • Statistical analysis of Galactic globular cluster type properties
The analysis of pseudo-colour diagrams, the so-called chromosome maps, of Galactic globular clusters (GCs) permits to classify them into type I and type II clusters. Type II GCs are characterized by an above-the-average complexity of their chromosome maps and some of them are known to display star-to-star variations of slow neutron-capture reaction

  • SIMULATIONS OF THE SOLAR CHROMOSPHERE IN THE TWO-FLUID APPROXIMATION
This work presents the study of wave propagation and the Rayleigh-Taylor instability in the solar atmosphere using a two-fluid model. The solar atmosphere is strongly stratified and permeated by magnetic fields with a complex configuration, thus creating very different regimes throughout its layers. Of the different layers of the solar atmosphere

  • SCUBA-2 overdensities associated with candidate protoclusters selected from Planck data
We measure the 850-μm source densities of 46 candidate protoclusters selected from the Planck high-z catalogue (PHz) and the Planck Catalogue of Compact Sources (PCCS) that were followed up with Herschel-SPIRE and SCUBA-2. This paper aims to search for overdensities of 850-μm sources in order to select the fields that are most likely to be genuine

  • Revealing the tidal scars of the Small Magellanic Cloud
Due to their close proximity, the Large and Small Magellanic Clouds (LMC/SMC) provide natural laboratories for understanding how galaxies form and evolve. With the goal of determining the structure and dynamical state of the SMC, we present new spectroscopic data for ∼3000 SMC red giant branch stars observed using the AAOmega spectrograph at the
