  • Serendipitous Discovery of a Physical Binary Quasar at z = 1.76
Binary quasars are extremely rare objects, used to investigate clustering on very small scales at different redshifts. The cases where the two quasar components are gravitationally bound, known as physical binary quasars, can also exhibit enhanced astrophysical activity and therefore are of particular scientific interest. Here we present the

  • RedDots: a temperate 1.5 Earth-mass planet candidate in a compact multiterrestrial planet system around GJ 1061
Small low-mass stars are favourable targets for the detection of rocky habitable planets. In particular, planetary systems in the solar neighbourhood are interesting and suitable for precise characterization. The RedDots campaigns seek to discover rocky planets orbiting nearby low-mass stars. The 2018 campaign targeted GJ 1061, which is the 20th

  • Radial metallicity gradients with Galactic nebular probes
The study of radial metallicity gradients in the disc of the Milky Way is a powerful tool to understand the mechamisms that have been acting in the formation and evolution of the Galactic disc. In this proceeding, I will put the eye on some problems that should be carefully addressed to obtain precise determinations of the metallicity gradients.

  • Quasi-periodic behaviour in the optical and γ-ray light curves of blazars 3C 66A and B2 1633+38
We report on quasi-periodic variability found in two blazars included in the Steward Observatory Blazar Monitoring data sample: the BL Lac object 3C 66A and the Flat Spectrum Radio Quasar B2 1633+38. We collect optical photometric and polarimetric data in V and R bands of these sources from different observatories: St. Petersburg University

  • Planetary nebulae seen with TESS: Discovery of new binary central star candidates from Cycle 1
Context. It has become clear in recent years that binarity plays a crucial role in many aspects of planetary nebulae (PNe), particularly with regard to the striking morphologies they exhibit. To date, there are nearly 60 known binary central stars of PNe (bCSPNe). However, both theory and observation indicate that this figure represents only the
