  • Outcome of Six Candidate Transiting Planets from a TrES Field in Andromeda
Driven by the incomplete understanding of the formation of gas giant extrasolar planets and of their mass-radius relationship, several ground-based, wide-field photometric campaigns are searching the skies for new transiting extrasolar gas giants. As part of the Trans-atlantic Exoplanet Survey (TrES), in 2003/2004 we monitored approximately 30,000

  • OTELO: The Stellar Component of the Groth Field
OTELO, the key OSIRIS science project is a deep emission line object survey to be performed with the OSIRIS Tunable Filters in selected atmospheric windows relatively free of sky emission lines (Cepa et al. 2006; Cepa et al. 2005).

  • OTELO: optical data for X-ray sources in the Groth Strip
We present a preliminary analysis of public, deep (200 ksec.) Chandra/ACIS observations of three fields comprising the original Groth-Westphal strip (GWS), gathered from the Chandra Data Archive, combined with optical BVRI data from our broadband survey carried out with the 4.2-m WHT at La Palma. This work has been performed in the framework of the

  • Optical and near IR galaxy number counts in the GOYA survey. The ages of Ellipticals
Based on the GOYA Photometric Survey of the HST Groth-Westphal strip, we present galaxy number counts in B and Ks bands together with a model that simultaneously reproduces the counts and that does not need to add an extra population of blue dwarf galaxies to reproduce the blue excess of the counts at faint magnitudes.

  • Observation of Very High Energy γ-Rays from the AGN 1ES 2344+514 in a Low Emission State with the MAGIC Telescope
The MAGIC collaboration has observed very high energy gamma-ray emission from the AGN 1ES 2344+514. A gamma-ray signal corresponding to an 11 σ excess and an integral flux of (2.38+/-0.30stat+/-0.70syst)×10-11 cm-2 s-1 above 200 GeV has been obtained from 23.1 hr of data taking between 2005 August 3 and 2006 January 1. The data confirm the

  • New X-Ray Transient in M31: CXOM31 J004258.6+411527
We report the discovery of a previously unseen X-ray point source detected in a 10ks observation starting on 2007-06-02.93 UT as part of our ongoing Chandra/HST M31 transient program. The source was detected by ACIS-I at coordinates RA(J2000) 00:42:58.63, Dec(J2000) +41:15:27.00, with centroid position errors of 0.05" and 0.04", respectively
