  • Stellar atmospheric parameters in MILES library (Cenarro+, 2007)
We present a homogeneous set of stellar atmospheric parameters (Teff, logg, [Fe/H]) for MILES, a new spectral stellar library covering the range {lambda}{lambda}3525-7500{AA} at 2.3{AA} (FWHM) spectral resolution. The library consists of 985 stars spanning a large range in atmospheric parameters, from super-metal-rich, cool stars to hot, metal-poor

  • Star formation and stellar populations across nuclear rings in galaxies
We present a study of the optical spectra of a sample of eight star-forming nuclear rings and the nuclei of their host galaxies. The spectra were obtained with the Intermediate dispersion Spectrograph and Imaging System spectrograph on the William Herschel Telescope and cover a wide range in wavelength, enabling the measurement of several stellar

  • Stability and formation of the resonant system HD 73526
Context: Based on radial velocity measurements, it has been found that the two giant planets detected around the star HD 73526 are in 2:1 resonance. However, as our numerical integration shows, the derived orbital data for this system result in chaotic behavior of the giant planets, which is uncommon among the resonant extrasolar planetary systems

  • Spitzer IRS Spectroscopy of High-Mass Precursors of Planetary Nebulae
We present Spitzer IRS observations of a small sample of heavily obscured IRAS sources displaying both the infrared and OH maser emission characteristic of OH/IR stars on the asymptotic giant branch (AGB), but also radio continuum emission typical of ionized planetary nebulae (PNe), the so-called OHPNe. Our observations show that their mid-infrared

  • Spicule emission profiles observed in He i 10 830 Å
Aims:Off-the-limb observations with high spatial and spectral resolution will help us understand the physical properties of spicules in the solar chromosphere. Methods: Spectropolarimetric observations of spicules in the He i 10 830 Å multiplet were obtained with the Tenerife Infrared Polarimeter on the German Vacuum Tower Telescope at the

  • Space Velocities of L- and T-Type Dwarfs
We have obtained radial velocities of a sample of 18 ultracool dwarfs (M6.5-T8) using high-resolution, near-infrared spectra obtained with NIRSPEC and the Keck II telescope. We have confirmed that the radial velocity of Gl 570D is coincident with that of the K-type primary star Gl 570A, thus providing additional support for their true companionship
