  • Fast-to-Alfvén Mode Conversion and Ambipolar Heating in Structured Media. II. Numerical Simulation
This paper studies the effectiveness of production of Alfvén waves in the solar atmosphere through the processes of mode conversion, taking into account several new effects that have not been considered before. We perform simulations of wave propagation and conversion from the photosphere to the corona. Both magnetic field and plasma parameters are

  • Extended Aperture Photometry of K2 RR Lyrae stars
The Kepler Space Telescope observed thousands of RR Lyrae stars in the K2 mission. In this paper, we present our photometric solutions using extended apertures in order to conserve the flux of the stars to the highest possible extent. With this method, we are able to avoid most of the problems that RR Lyrae light curves produced by other pipelines

  • Exploring the Mid-infrared SEDs of Six AGN Dusty Torus Models. II. The Data
This is the second in a series of papers devoted to exploring a set of six dusty models of active galactic nuclei (AGN) with available spectral energy distributions. These models are the smooth torus by Fritz et al., the clumpy torus by Nenkova et al., the clumpy torus by Hönig & Kishimoto, the two-phase torus by Siebenmorgen et al., the two-phase

  • Exploring the Mid-infrared SEDs of Six AGN Dusty Torus Models. I. Synthetic Spectra
At distances from the active galaxy nucleus where the ambient temperature falls below ̃1500-1800 K, dust is able to survive. It is thus possible to have a large dusty structure present that surrounds the active galaxy nucleus. This is the first of two papers aiming at comparing six dusty torus models with available spectral energy distributions

  • Evidence of a fast bar in the weakly-interacting galaxy NGC 4264 with MUSE
We present surface photometry and stellar kinematics of NGC 4264, a barred lenticular galaxy in the region of the Virgo Cluster undergoing a tidal interaction with one of its neighbours, NGC 4261. We measured the bar radius (abar = 3.2 ± 0.5 kpc) and strength (Sbar = 0.31 ± 0.04) of NGC 4264 from Sloan Digital Sky Survey imaging and its bar pattern

  • Discovery and analysis of a ULX nebula in NGC 3521
We present Very Large Telescope/X-shooter and Chandra X-ray observatory/ACIS observations of the ULX [SST2011] J110545.62 + 000016.2 in the galaxy NGC 3521. The source identified as a candidate near-infrared counterpart to the ULX in our previous study shows an emission line spectrum of numerous recombination and forbidden lines in the visible and
