Gaia Lacedelli is an Italian astrophysicist, currently a postdoctoral researcher at the IAC. She studied astrophysics at the University of Padova, Italy, where she obtained her PhD with a thesis on the discovery and characterization of exoplanets. 

She has been working since 2022 in the Canary Islands in the field of scientific outreach, collaborating with several local institutions (Science Museum, Association
"Planeta Ciencias," etc.), and in the context of Astro-tourism, in collaboration with local companies and public institutions on the island of Tenerife.
 

From 2024 she works at the IAC within the ‘Exoplanets and Astrobiology’ group, investigating the properties of exoplanet populations. She is member of several astronomical international consortia (i.e., CHEOPS, CARMENES, PLATO, TESS-ExoFOP, ARIEL), and she carries out both observational (Roque de Los Muchachos and Teide Observatory) and data analysis work in the field of exoplanetary science using state-of-the-art telescopes and instruments both ground and space-based (i.e. TESS, CHEOPS, ESPRESSO, HARPS, HARPS-N,  CARMENES, HIRES). 

Her work focuses on the characterization of sub-Neptunes using the transit and radial velocity technique. She also investigates their orbital configuration as member of the ATREIDES collaboration, and  their atmospheric characterization using low-resolution spectroscopy within the ARIEL mission. 

She is also actively involved in outreach activities within the IAC, and she participates in various outreach programs (Habla con Ellas, Feria de la Ciencia de La Orotava, Semana de la Ciencia en Canarias, etc.)
