  • Ly-alpha polarimeter design for CLASP rocket experiment
A sounding-rocket program called the Chromospheric Lyman-Alpha Spectro-Polarimeter (CLASP) is proposed to be launched in the Summer of 2014. CLASP will observe the upper solar chromosphere in Ly-alpha (121.567 nm), aiming to detect the linear polarization signal produced by scattering processes and the Hanle effect for the first time. The CLASP

  • Looking for a Connection between the Am Phenomenon and Hybrid δ Sct -γ Dor Pulsation: Determination of the Fundamental Parameters and Abundances of HD 114839 and BD +18 4914
δ Sct-γ Dor hybrids pulsate simultaneously in p- and g-modes, which carry information on the structure of the envelope as well as to the core. Hence, they are key objects for investigating A and F type stars with asteroseismic techniques. An important requirement for seismic modeling is small errors in temperature, gravity, and chemical composition

  • Lithium Depletion in Solar Type stars: Lithium and Planet Presence
The lithium (Li) abundance measured in the solar atmosphere is 140 times smaller than expected considering the proto-solar value. Furthermore, measurements of Li abundance made for many stars similar to the Sun reveal a large dispersion. These observations have defied the models of light element depletion for decades. We present a strong evidence

  • Internal dynamics of Abell 2254: a merging galaxy cluster with a clumpy, diffuse radio emission
Context. The mechanisms giving rise to diffuse radio emission in galaxy clusters and, in particular, their connection with cluster mergers are still being debated. Aims: We explore the internal dynamics of Abell 2254, which has been shown to host a very clumpy and irregular radio halo. Methods: Our analysis is mainly based on redshift data for 128

  • High-z galaxies behind the lensing cluster A2667
We have conducted a survey aimed at identifying a sample of z˜7-10 candidates accessible to detailed spectroscopic studies. The deep survey on A2667 covers a large field of view with HAWK-I and FORS2 at ESO/VLT between 0.8 and 2.5μm (typical depth m(AB)=27.5 at 3σ). 13 sources were identified based on the Lyman Break technique, namely 1 J-drop, 8 Y
