  • The Sun, the Solar Wind, and the Heliosphere
We describe the aims and contents of the book entitled "The Sun, the Solar Wind, and the Heliosphere". This is a volume in the IAGA Special Book Series dedicated to the science covered by IAGA Division IV, Solar Wind and Interplanetary Field. The book features review articles on topics from the interior of the Sun to the outermost regions of the

  • The Necklace planetary nebula: equatorial and polar outflows from a post-common-envelope system
We present the discovery of a new planetary nebula from the IPHAS survey. The remarkable morphology of its inner regions, which display a bright knotty ring surrounded by high excitation gas, led to the object's nickname, the ``Necklace nebula''. The finding of a binary central star with an orbital period of 1.16 days makes it a new clear example

  • The IACOB Project: Synergies for the Gaia Era
The IACOB spectroscopic survey of Galactic OB stars is an ambitious observational project aimed at compiling a large, homogeneous, high-resolution database of optical spectra of massive stars observable from the Northern hemisphere. The quantitative spectroscopic analysis of this database, complemented by the invaluable information provided by Gaia

  • Testing Axion Physics in a Josephson Junction Environment
We suggest that experiments based on Josephson junctions, SQUIDS, and coupled Josephson qubits may be used to construct a resonant environment for dark matter axions. We propose experimental setups in which axionic interaction strengths in a Josephson junction environment can be tested, similar in nature to recent experiments that test for quantum
