  • Galactic Evolution of Carbon and Nitrogen
Abundance analysis of Carbon and Nitrogen has been performed in a sample of 32 late F and early G type dwarf metal poor stars in the metallicity range -3.3 [Fe/H] 0 using molecular lines of CH and NH in the near-UV. We find that [C/Fe] decreases slowly with increasing [Fe/H] while [N/Fe] remains flat. Furthermore we derived uniform and accurate C

  • Formation and evolution of Galaxies with SWIRE
We present results on the formation and evolution of Galaxies with the Spitzer Wide-area Infrared Extragalactic Survey SWIRE Lonsdale et al 2003 the largest of the Spitzer Legacy surveys which has observed 50 square degrees in six areas of the sky with the Spitzer IRAC and MIPS cameras in seven infrared bands as well as in several optical bands

  • Flux emergence and interaction with a coronal field: 3D MHD simulations
The dynamic process of magnetic flux emergence from the solar interior to the outer atmosphere may well be related with eruptive phenomena and intense events of the Solar activity. However, the physics of the emergence is not still well understood. Thus, we have performed 3D MHD simulations to study the rising motion of a twisted flux tube from the

  • First brown dwarfs from the UKIRT Infrared Deep Sky Survey (UKIDSS)
On behalf of the UKIDSS consortium, we present the first brown dwarfs found in the UKIRT Infrared Deep Sky Survey(UKIDSS). UKIDSS began in May 2005 and will survey 7500 square degrees of the Northern sky, extending over both high and low Galactic latitudes, in JHK to K=18.3. This depth is three magnitudes deeper than 2MASS. UKIDSS searches for the

  • Extended Timing Observations of the Accreting Millisecond Pulsar Igr J00291+5934
Accreting millisecond pulsars have played an essential role in the understanding of accretion physics since they were first discovered in 1998 with RXTE. We propose to observe the fastest millisecond X-ray pulsar with 400 ks of TOO observations, that will be triggered when a new outburst is detected. We will time the pulse to measure the torque

  • Earth observed as a distant planet
Since the discovery of the first planet outside the solar system, the number of planet detections is increasing exponentially. Although we have not been capable of detecting and exploring planets like our own yet, challenging space missions are already being planned for the next decades, and the discovery of earth-like planets is only a matter of
