  • A far-infrared view of the Lockman Hole from ISO 95-μm observations - I. A new data reduction method
We report results from a new analysis of a deep 95-μm imaging survey with the photopolarimeter ISOPHOT on-board the Infrared Space Observatory, over a 40 × 40 arcmin2 area within the Lockman Hole. To this end we exploit a newly developed parametric algorithm able to identify and clean spurious signals induced by cosmic rays impacts and by transient

  • Using globular clusters to test gravity in the weak acceleration regime
We have carried out a study of the velocity dispersion of the stars in the outskirts of the globular cluster omega Cen, finding that the velocity dispersion remains constant at large radii rather than decrease monotonically. The dispersion starts to be constant for an acceleration of gravity of a=2.1+0.5-0.4x 10-8 cm s-2. A similar result is

  • Unveiling the nature of 10199 Chariklo: near-infrared observations and modeling
10199 Chariklo (1997 CU26) is the largest Centaur so far known. We carried out near-infrared observations of this object during two different runs separated by a year. Although no evidence for spectral variations has been found over short time scales, slight differences have been detected between the two observational runs. We interpret these
