  • Anisotropy in the mid-IR emission of Seyfert galaxies
Based on Mid and far-IR data of a complete set of Seyfert galaxies we analyse the Spectral Energy Distributions (SED) of these objects. These SEDs can be separated into three thermal emission components. This separation can be used to introduce some sort of spatial resolution in the inherently low resolution ISO data. It can also be applied as a

  • An Iceberg Scenario for Late-Type Spiral Galaxy Bulges
Fitting exponential profiles to the bulges of the early-type spiral galaxies from de Jong & van der Kruit (1994) under-estimates their sizes at the 2-3 sigma significance level. Allowing for the range of structural shapes which these bulges possess - through fitting an r1/n profile - the mean effective bulge radius to disk scale-length ratio, re/h

  • Advantages of NIR Multiobject Spectroscopy of z ˜ 1 Galaxies
Galaxy redshift surveys from z ˜ 1 to z ˜ 4 providing thousands of identified objects are already available. Only for a small and selected sample of those galaxies, near-infrared (NIR) spectroscopy and emission line studies exist. This is mainly due to the time-consuming work of observing one object at a time. This will change with the advent of

  • A Near-Infrared μ0,K -- log h Relation for Early-Type Spiral Galaxy Disks
The K-band light-profiles from a sample of roughly 100 disk galaxies have been simultaneously modelled with a seeing convolved Sersic r1/n bulge and an exponential disk. Rather than a constant central disk surface brightness, in the near-infrared, μ0,K is shown to decrease with the logarithm of the disk scale-length (log h) - with a correlation
