  • Planck 2018 results. I. Overview and the cosmological legacy of Planck
The European Space Agency's Planck satellite, which was dedicated to studying the early Universe and its subsequent evolution, was launched on 14 May 2009. It scanned the microwave and submillimetre sky continuously between 12 August 2009 and 23 October 2013, producing deep, high-resolution, all-sky maps in nine frequency bands from 30 to 857 GHz

  • Phase-dependent Study of Near-infrared Disk Emission Lines in LB-1
The mass, origin, and evolutionary stage of the binary system LB-1 have been intensely debated, following the claim that it hosts an ∼70M ☉ black hole, in stark contrast with the expectations for Galactic remnants. We conducted a high-resolution, phase-resolved spectroscopic study of its Paschen lines, using the Calar Alto 3.5 m telescope. We find

  • On the Formation of Lyman β and the O I 1027 and 1028 Å Spectral Lines
We study the potential of Lyman β and the O I 1027 and 1028 Å spectral lines to help in understanding the properties of the chromosphere and transition region (TR). The oxygen transitions are located in the wing of Lyman β, which is a candidate spectral line for the solar missions Solar Orbiter/Spectral Imaging of the Coronal Environment and Solar

  • OGLE-2018-BLG-1269Lb: A Jovian Planet with a Bright I = 16 Host
We report the discovery of a planet in the microlensing event OGLE-2018-BLG-1269 with a planet-host mass ratio q ∼ 6 × 10 -4, i.e., 0.6 times smaller than the Jupiter/Sun mass ratio. Combined with the Gaia parallax and proper motion, a strong one-dimensional constraint on the microlens parallax vector allows us to significantly reduce the

  • Observations of [OI]63-=μm line emission in main-sequence galaxies at z ∼ 1.5
    We present Herschel-PACS spectroscopy of four main-sequence star-forming galaxies at z ∼ 1.5. We detect [OI]63-=μm line emission in BzK-21000 at z = 1.5213, and measure a line luminosity, $L_{\rm [O\, {\small I}]63\, \mu m} = (3.9\pm 0.7)\times 10^9$ -=L ☉. Our PDR modelling of the interstellar medium in BzK-21000 suggests a UV radiation field

  • NIR counterparts to ULXs (III): completing the photometric survey and selected spectroscopic results
We present results from the remaining sources in our search for near-infrared (NIR) candidate counterparts to ultraluminous X-ray sources (ULXs) within ≃10 Mpc. We observed 23 ULXs in 15 galaxies and detected NIR candidate counterparts to 6 of them. Two of these have an absolute magnitude consistent with a single red supergiant (RSG). Three
