  • The Tucana dwarf spheroidal galaxy: not such a massive failure after all
Context. Isolated local group (LG) dwarf galaxies have evolved most or all of their life unaffected by interactions with the large LG spirals and therefore offer the opportunity to learn about the intrinsic characteristics of this class of objects. Aims: Our aim is to explore the internal kinematic and metallicity properties of one of the three

  • The spectroscopic properties of the Lixiaohua family, cradle of Main Belt Comets
The Lixiaohua collisional family lies in the Outer Main Belt, close to the well characterized Themis primitive class family. It is one of the only three families that host two active asteroids that present cometary-like activity: 313P/Gibbs and 358P/PANSTARRS (P/2012 T1). As a part of the PRIMitive Asteroid Spectroscopy Survey (PRIMASS), we present

  • The spatial distribution of impact craters on Ryugu
Asteroid 162173 Ryugu has numerous craters. The initial measurement of impact craters on Ryugu, by Sugita et al. (2019), is based on Hayabusa2 ONC images obtained during the first month after the arrival of Hayabusa2 in June 2018. Utilizing new images taken until February 2019, we constructed a global impact crater catalogue of Ryugu, which

  • The resolved size and structure of hot dust in the immediate vicinity of AGN
We use VLTI/GRAVITY near-infrared interferometry measurements of eight bright type 1 AGN to study the size and structure of hot dust that is heated by the central engine. We partially resolve each source, and report Gaussian full width at half-maximum sizes in the range 0.3-0.8 mas. In all but one object, we find no evidence for significant

  • The Pristine Survey - VIII. The metallicity distribution function of the Milky Way halo down to the extremely metal-poor regime
The Pristine survey uses narrow-band photometry to derive precise metallicities down to the extremely metal-poor regime ( [Fe/H] < -3), and currently consists of over 4 million FGK-type stars over a sky area of ̃ 2500 deg^2. We focus our analysis on a subsample of ̃80 000 main-sequence turn-off stars with heliocentric distances between 6 and 20 kpc

  • The Pristine survey - IX. CFHT ESPaDOnS spectroscopic analysis of 115 bright metal-poor candidate stars
A chemo-dynamical analysis of 115 metal-poor candidate stars selected from the narrow-band Pristine photometric survey is presented based on CFHT high-resolution ESPaDOnS spectroscopy. We have discovered 28 new bright (V < 15) stars with [Fe/H] < -2.5 and 5 with [Fe/H] < -3.0 for success rates of 40 (28/70) and 19 per cent (5/27), respectively. A
