  • PolStar - An Explorer-Class FUV Spectropolarimetry Mission to Map the Environments of Massive Stars
PolStar is an Explorer-class far ultraviolet (FUV) spectropolarimetry mission designed to target massive stars and their environments. PolStar will take advantage of resonance lines only available in the FUV to measure for the first time the magnetic and wind environment around massive stars to constrain models of rotation and mass loss.

  • Planetary system detection by estimating the covariance of coronagraphic lucky images
In this paper, we review two different methods to increase image contrast and propose the combination of both to detect faint companions surrounding a host star. Coronagraphy allows us to block light coming from the host star so that the residual star light can be reduced by several orders of magnitude. On the other hand, estimating the Covariance

  • Packed Ultra-wideband Mapping Array (PUMA): A Radio Telescope for Cosmology and Transients
PUMA is a proposed ultra-wideband low-resolution interferometric transit radio telescope operating at 200-1100 MHz composed of thousands of 6m dishes. It is optimized for intensity mapping of the redshifted 21cm line over z=0.3-6 to study dark energy and inflation. The same design also allows an unprecedented study of fast radio bursts and pulsars.

  • On the Use of Field RR Lyrae as Galactic Probes. I. The Oosterhoff Dichotomy Based on Fundamental Variables
We collected a large data set of field RR Lyrae stars (RRLs) by using catalogs already available in the literature and Gaia DR2. We estimated the iron abundances for a subsample of 2382 fundamental RRLs (∆S method: Ca II K, Hβ, Hγ, and Hδ lines) for which there are publicly available medium-resolution SDSS-SEGUE spectra. We also included similar

  • NGC 7457: evidence for merger-driven cylindrical rotation in disc galaxies
We construct Schwarzschild orbit-based models of NGC 7457, known as a peculiar low-mass lenticular galaxy. Our best-fitting model successfully retrieves most of the unusual kinematics behaviours of this galaxy, in which, the orbital distribution of stars is dominated by warm and hot orbits. The reconstructed surface brightness of the hot component
